Problems with Web Reports and Acrobat Reader

There is a problem with WebFOCUS (Reports created by MEMFIS and other AccessUNI applications) and the newest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader (version 5). Although this problem has occurred for months, CHFA|TECH was only informed of this problem on Friday, 11/2.

On computers running with any web browser, if you are using the current version of Adobe Acrobat and attempt to view a MEMFIS report you will get a "Illegal operation 'm' inside a text object." Error message. Clicking on the OK box will allow you to see the document, but depending on the model of your printer you may not be able to print it.

This problem does not occur with the older version 4.05 of Acrobat Reader, which is no longer available from Adobe for download (but luckily CHFA|TECH still has a copy).

To maintain compatibility with AccessUNI CHFA|TECH has "rolled back" our installation of Acrobat 5 to acrobat 4.05 on Windows 2000 machines. This was done on Monday night 11/5. We will re-upgrade to the current version as soon as AccessUNI upgrades WebFOCUS to allow compatibility with Adobe's supported product.

If you are experiencing problems with AccessUNI reports please contact CHFA|TECH at 273-7349 or by email to chfaTECH@uni.edu or through our online work request.
