Mac Stability Improved

Changes made this morning (Thursday 10/18) appear to have made a significant improvement in the stability of the Macs network connections. We are uncertain as to whether this has solved the problem completely and will continue to monitor the situation.

Mac Troubleshooting Update

We have had a successful day of testing. With the help of an Apple Engineer and ITS, we believe we have a solution to the dropping problem that we have been experiencing on the Macs. It appears that the problem is due to a network negotiation that happens incorrectly. We have a solution that has worked repeatedly on a test machine.

We will be implementing the fix at approximately 7:00 AM on Thursday 10/18 in KAB 250 and CAC 204. If this solves the problem on a larger scale, we will expand to all machines that have been experiencing the problems.

Troubleshooting Continues

We will continue troubleshooting the Mac network problems on Wednesday 10/17. Tests will begin shortly after 6:00 AM. An Apple Systems Engineer will be here at about 10:00 AM to perform additional tests.

Based on the outcome of these tests, we will decide our next steps to solving our connectivity problems.
