Server Restored - MERCURY
It took a lot longer than expected - but user documents on Mercury are now available again to users.
For anyone not in the office working the last 13 hours - you should notice no difference in computer usage (perhaps a slight speed increase from fixing several thousand file indexes). Thank you for your patience if you inconvenienced by this maintainance.

Server Maintainance - DELAY - MERCURY
Many disk errors were encountered during the drive upgrade on Document server MERCURY. As such user documents will continue to be unavailable until later in the morning Saturday until disk utilities complete.
Users can log into their computers as normal - the login user preferences (Roaming user profiles) have been restored.
More information will be posted to this website as soon as work is completed.

Server Maintainance/Shutdown Friday 7-00PM-Midnight - MERCURY.CHFA.UNI.EDU
All Windows users (except Comm Studies),
In order to add a hard disk drive, fix a problem with user disk space, and
replace a failing battery backup system we will have to take our main
Windows document server offline for a minimum of three hours tomorrow night
starting at 7PM.
If you are using Windows 2000 or Windows XP - your documents and user
preferences (roaming user profile) resides on this server (Mercury). (Comm
Studies faculty and staff are currently on a separate server in Lang Hall).
During the maintenance window you will be unable to open or save any
documents in your My Documents folder. You will be able to login or logoff
from a computer - but you will receive error messages "unable to locate
roaming user profile" or "unable to save roaming user profile."
The server will be brought back as soon as possible, hopefully by midnight.
As always, you should log off all workstations you use before you leave
campus. If you need to use documents during this time period, please
contact us ASAP - we will attempt to accommodate you.
