Windows Server Upgrades Aug 9&10th

A little late in reporting:

Over Saturday August 9th and Sunday August 10 - all four Windows 2000 Servers in CHFA were moved to Windows Server 2003. We have optimized the usage of our servers to provide optimal speed in each of their functions.

We now have two Windows Domain Controllers - one each in Lang Hall and Communication Arts Center. Domain controllers check your username and password during login or when you request a network print job or file request. These are are oldest servers - but are no longer burdened doing any other jobs than directory security and maintaining computer configurations for managed computers (Windows Group Policy).

Our remaining two servers have larger disk capacity and redundancy. They are not Domain Controllers, so their "energy" is all put to handling your documents, printer jobs, and installing software to office and lab computers.

We hope you notice the substantial speed enhancement. We also hope to offer some of the new features of Windows Server 2003 in the future - such as Shadow Copy.
