Network Outtage - Sat 11/22/03

CHFA's backbone connection to central campus computers (a Gigbit fiber optical link) developed problems between 7AM and 9:30AM morning. Before resetting the fiber optical transceivers at 11:00AM users in CHFA likely experienced difficulty accessing their personal documents. People with offices in CAC were unable to do any network activities such as email, web browsing, printing, in addition to the inability to access personal documents on a CHFA server.

Thanks to Seth Bolkeman for coming out to CAC to reset the fiber optical link transceiver and for catching the outtage when our morning tape backup failed on Pluto (that backup has since been restarted).
