Google Toolbar - blocks web popups on CHFA Windows machines
We have set an administrative (automatic) installation of the Google Toolbar to all Windows 2000 and Windows XP machines in the College. This is after careful testing over the last three weeks - including testing by other users in the student computer labs for the last week.
The Google Toolbar has several features - the one we most admire is it's ability to block popup windows in Internet Explorer. This significantly reduces junk webpages from appearing. You will hear a "click" noise on the computer - and will see a yellow/red explosion icon on the mouse cursor when a popup is blocked. Additionally the toolbar will show "xx blocked" incrementing the number each time another web page popup is blocked.
We have found almost no web pages that are blocked accidently by this - but if they are you can hold the CTRL key on the keyboard when clicking on the link to the webpage to override the Google popup blocker.
Please feel free to provide us with any feedback by email
