Windows Servers reboot 5PM Wed 4/13/04

Microsoft has four critical updates for Windows 2003 Server that we will apply to our servers today. After 5:00pm we will need to interrupt the Windows file servers PLUTO and MERCURY for a few minutes in order to reboot after updates. We will take steps to avoid anyone losing data for files that are in use at that time, but we ask all to please log off all workstations (any Windows 2000 or XP computer in CHFA, or any Macintosh that connects to Pluto or Mercury) before 5:00pm tonight.

All servers should be updated and ready to use again by 5:15pm.

These updates will be applied to CHFA Windows computers tonight between 3:00AM and 4:00AM. If you have a home computer running Windows - you should review Microsoft's webpage for information on these security updates, and apply them to your home system. More information from Microsoft

We recommend opening Internet Explorer from your home computer, and going to the website http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com - to automate the update process.
