Tiger Server - Demo Feature Overview
Mobile Home Directories
With Portable Home Directories in Mac OS X Server v10.4, you can centrally manage the home directories of your portable Mac clients and yet allow each user online and offline access from the office and the road. When users reconnect their iBook or PowerBook to the network, Mac OS X automatically syncs up the home directory with the one on the server.
iChat Server
Host your own private and secure inside-the-firewall iChat server that uses your own namespace and works with both Tiger’s iChat AV and popular Jabber clients available on Windows, Linux and PDAs.
Weblog Server
Publish articles and syndicate content easily by hosting your own Weblog server. With calendar-based navigation and customizable themes, Tiger Server makes it easy for users and groups to publish journals and share project information.
Software Update Server
Reduce network costs by controlling the distribution of Apple software updates with your own Apple software update proxy/cache server.
Access Control Lists
Tiger Server goes beyond the limitations of traditional UNIX file permissions to give you greater flexibility over assigning access permissions to files, folders and network services. Access Control Lists (ACLs) in Tiger Server le you set a whole group as the owner of a file or folder rather than just an individual — you can even assign unique access permissions for multiple users and groups.
