UNI Mail Server crawls to a stop
As many have called in to CHFATECH today - there is a severe slow-down of the UNI Email server. ITS is aware of this situation and is working on a solution. CHFATECH cannot do anything to assist at this time. The following is reprinted from today's UNI Online newsletter:
MAILMAN USE:
This fall has seen a dramatic increase in e-mail use that is adversely impacting system performance. Demand is greatest on Mondays and tails off during the week. Thunderbird users will notice that sending and deleting messages takes much longer than normal. When this occurs, minimize these windows and continue to work normally. Mailman users have experienced many Mondays where performance is intolerable. ITS has made several configuration modifications to the existing e-mail system with no noticeable improvements and will continue to investigate further modifications. We are investigating new solutions that will improve e-mail performance. In the meantime, users should schedule their e-mail use around peak loads.
