Windows Deployment of Website Authoring Tool Nvu

Nvu (pronounced N-view, for a "new view") is a website authoring program that has been deployed to all CHFA Windows machines. Upon their next restart, Nvu should appear on CHFA Windows machines. It may be found by clicking Start, then All Programs (sometimes simply Programs), and lastly Nvu.

With Microsoft discontinuing FrontPage and the phase-out of the UNI’s FrontPage server, users have been looking for a new, simple website authoring program. Nvu is a free, open-source program that should perform nicely for the vast majority of our users. Additionally, some CHFA machines have Macromedia Dreamweaver on them. Dreamweaver is a professional website authoring program but it is more difficult to master than Nvu.

Nvu users will also have to use an FTP utility, like Filezilla or CoreFTP, to upload their website from their computer to the server.

Nvu FAQ’s can be found at http://www.nvu.com/faq.php and the Nvu support site is at http://www.nvu.com/support.php.
