Apple Server Maintenance scheduled for Spring Break
Maintenance on one of our OS X servers (Apollo) is scheduled for Monday (March 12th), and is expected to take the server off-line most of the day.
Apollo's primary function is to maintain our Open Directory and Workgroup Manager databases. This means that all CHFA Macintosh lab machines and most faculty machines get most of their background settings from this machine, such as what printer should be set-up, what the default home page should be, what applications show up in the dock, and the automatic mounting of your network-based storage. Apollo also maintains the print queue's for the Macintosh computer labs within the college. During this maintenance period, these services will not be available.
To mount your network-storage manually:
1. Make sure that the Finder is active. (click on desktop, select Finder from the dock, etc.)
2. Select "Connect to Server" from the Go menu (or press Apple-K)
3. Type "smb://mercury.chfa.uni.edu" (or select it from favorites if it is there; no quotation marks please!)
4. Click the Connect button
5. Select "Staff" or "Students" from the Pop-Up menu, as appropriate
6. Click the OK button
7. Find your folder (typing the first few characters will jump to that folder)
Services are expected to be back up by Tuesday. If you have any questions, please contact us by e-mail or phone.
